What draws people to any kind of visual work is the aesthetic allure created through the use of color, rhythm, movement, drama, and visual clarity. These "invite the viewer in" and tells them where to look. This is step one of telling the story: simply getting the viewer to engage with the piece.
Once “through the door” I take them on a journey. If it is a brochure, exhibit or event I designed, this process can unfold over several minutes. If it is a piece of artwork or an ad, it can happen in seconds. Sometimes it is a complex subject, sometimes a thought, sometimes just a feeling.
I believe designers can tell stories with or without words.
I believe people respond to clarity, beauty, and
I believe how you say something is as important as
what you are saying.
These principles are at the heart of my work.
